Cable & Wireless has eased the financial burden of the Grenada Patient Kidney Foundation by donating $4000 to the organization.  On Monday last Chief Executive of Cable & Wireless, Ian Blanchard  presented the cheque to Mrs. Heather Sylvester, Secretary/Treasurer of the Kidney Foundation. On making the presentation Mr. Blanchard remarked " It is gratifying to know that Cable & Wireless can contribute towards the saving of lives." He said " We feel it is necessary to support such a worthy cause especially given the fact that some of the patients are not able to afford the treatment"
 
The Kidney foundation is run by patients who themselves are in need of the dialysis facilities.  According to Mrs. Sylvester, “through facilities provided by the organization, patients are able to receive dialysis. Without this they would not survive and before the foundation was formed patients would have had to go abroad in order to access this treatment. Some of them could not afford it.  We are thankful to Cable & Wireless for their generous support which would aid our patients and by extension help in the preservation of their lives."
 
The organization conducts fund raisers and recently explained its  purpose and plight through local media, whilst soliciting support from the public.  Mr. Blanchard said that “Cable & Wireless answered the call for help and is pleased to be able to partner with the Grenada Patient Kidney Foundation in providing such much needed medical care."
